Is The Nintendo Switch 2 Worth Buying? 1 Week Later Review

The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here — but not without controversy.

As someone who’s spent years reviewing tech and gaming hardware, I had high hopes for this next-gen follow-up to one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles of all time. And while the Switch 2 brings some solid upgrades on paper, the real-world experience left me… underwhelmed.

In my full video review (linked below), I break down exactly why this launch isn’t going the way many fans expected. From questionable pricing and confusing features to a lack of killer exclusives, this isn’t the slam dunk Nintendo needed in 2025.

🔍 Quick Specs Overview:

  • Price: $449–$499

  • Performance: Upgraded CPU/GPU combo with faster load times

  • Display: 8-inch OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate (handheld), 4K output when docked

  • New Features: GameChat camera accessory (sold separately), improved Joy-Con latency

  • Backward Compatibility: Mostly compatible with original Switch titles

  • Storage: 256GB internal, expandable via microSD

But specs only tell half the story.

The problem is, at nearly $500 before accessories, Nintendo has set the bar high — and the Switch 2 doesn’t quite clear it. Especially in today’s economic climate, many fans are holding back. Add to that vague marketing, minimal first-party launch titles, and a camera feature that feels more gimmick than game-changer, and you've got a launch that feels... muted.

Still, it’s not all bad news. The screen is beautiful, the performance boost is noticeable, and Nintendo always has a way of turning things around — if they play their cards right.
