Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro Max Unboxing & Color Impressions
Burgundy on the iPhone 18 Pro Max is Apple’s big “go viral” color this year — positioned as the spiritual replacement for last year’s orange — and in person it’s deeper and more sophisticated than I expected. It reads almost eggplant: very deep but still vibrant, collegiate, bookish, and fancy in a way that doesn’t scream for attention. I unboxed the Pro Max, lived with the finish under desk lights and side light, and shared honest color impressions for anyone deciding whether this is the statement Pro to buy. My Honest Take: burgundy shocked me in the best way — deeper than the product shots suggested, with a shine that goes nearly black when you tilt it and then pops again, and it feels more sophisticated than last year’s Cosmic Orange ever did. The tradeoff is smudges: this finish (maybe second only to black) shows dirty or sweaty hands in a way Glacier and silver basically don’t, so it won’t always look “clean.” Box contents are bare — braided USB-C to USB-C only, no documentation, and the lid print quality keeps getting worse — while the Pro Max itself is mainly larger battery and screen versus the regular Pro, which I still prefer for everyday handling unless you need max battery and movie watching for the extra $100. Darker bezels from burgundy and black feel more immersive than bright silver rails; the Dynamic Island pill is smaller than last year with room for three Live Activities; and there’s a vapor chamber about three times bigger than last year’s if overheating was your issue. Lined up with Glacier and silver, burgundy absorbs the most light — if you want understated depth over a bright Pro finish, this is the one I’d actually pick and enjoy.
