I Threw an AI Robot Into a Pool! Aiper Scuba V3

I’ve tested a lot of robot vacuums and random little home robots over the years, but this is the first time I’ve ever tested a robot made specifically for a pool — and honestly, I don’t even have a pool. The Aiper Scuba V3 is a smart pool robot with AI vision, AI Patrol cleaning, waterline cleaning, app alerts, and a charging dock, so I took it to a pool and threw it in to see if this is actually the future of pool cleaning or just another gadget trying to look smarter than it is. (Aiper sponsored this one and sent the Scuba V3 over.)

Out of the box it’s smaller than I expected, with a jet-black, tank-like design and blue accents that honestly looks cooler than most robot vacuums, plus a sleek charging base, a telescopic pole attachment, and buoyancy foams for tile pools. Setup is just charging it, answering a few questions about your pool in the app, and updating the software, and the app even shows how worn the ultra-fine filter is. At 18 lb you can still carry it with one hand, and one-click activation means you just press the top to start or tap to switch modes — the app is optional but adds more control for the smarter AI mode. AI Patrol actually spotted rocks in the pool and aimed itself at them, VisionPath uses AI vision and depth sensors to plan routes, avoid obstacles, and cut repeated passes, and dual brushes with 4,800 gallons per hour of suction push debris through a 180-micron filter and a 3-micron ultra-fine layer for sand and algae. The coolest part is JetAssist waterline cleaning, which uses a side jet to scrub the sunscreen-and-pollen ring around the edge, and when it’s done it returns to the waterline so you’re not fishing it out of the deep end. Aiper says all visual data stays on the device with zero image storage or uploading, and built-in lights let it clean at night. The cons: 18 lb feels heavier when it’s wet and full of water, you can’t remote-control it to specific spots, and you’ll need to rinse the filter regularly — I’d do it after every clean.

Watch the full Aiper Scuba V3 video for the unboxing, app setup, AI Patrol and waterline cleaning in action, and my honest cons. Final thoughts: if I had a pool, I’d have one of these running as often as possible — it’s a throw-it-in-and-walk-away robot, and watching it patrol the pool picking up rocks and debris was way cooler than I expected.
