I Ditched My Smartwatch for This… (Hume Health Band)
Most fitness trackers just count steps, so I swapped my smartwatch for the screenless Hume Health Band for a few weeks to see if longevity tracking is actually more useful. Instead of streaks, it looks at your metabolic health — Metabolic Capacity for how well your body produces energy and recovers, and Metabolic Momentum for which direction your habits are pushing you — plus HRV, skin temperature, and sleep trends to flag things like stress load or overtraining. (Hume Health sponsored this one.)
It’s one of the easiest wearables I’ve ever worn: light, comfy Velcro band, one button, no screen, no buzzing — just a small status light. It’s IP68 waterproof, the sensor array uses five LEDs and four photodiodes, and battery runs about 4 to 5 days with a full charge in roughly an hour. Everything lives in the free Hume app — no subscription for your core metrics, with an optional Hume Premium tier for AI insights and coaching. It tracks sleep stages, stress, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, activity intensity, skin temperature, and respiratory rate, and the new beta activity mode adds running, walking, and weightlifting sessions with heart rate zones and pace. No overnight transformation for me — it mostly confirmed my sleep is a mess and nudged me toward better habits. Downsides: readings can be off if it isn’t worn right, and since there’s no screen, I’ve let it die overnight; I now charge it every time I shower.

Final thoughts: if you want a low-key tracker that focuses on long-term health instead of notifications — with no required subscription and a 30-day return window — the Hume Band is an easy, low-risk one to try.
