MacBook Neo Citrus Green: Apple's Most Polarizing Color Yet

MacBook Neo Citrus Green: Apple's Most Polarizing Color Yet

Today I’m unboxing Apple’s MacBook Neo in citrus green — the quirkiest, most polarizing color in the lineup. At $599 ($499 with education), this all-aluminum 2.7 lb notebook is smaller than a MacBook Air, packs color-matched keys and rubber feet, and the citrus finish sits right between lemon and lime. It’s bright, reflective, and hard to capture on camera — Nike vibes in the best way.

On first boot the citrus deck looks almost white until the light hits it, then it goes full lime. Same Neo story as the others: shockingly bright 13-inch panel, click-anywhere trackpad (not Force Touch), dual side-firing speakers that don’t sound tinny, two USB-C ports (no Thunderbolt), headphone jack, A18 Pro (iPhone 16 Pro class), Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth 6, and 256 GB base — I’d still spend the extra $100 for 512 GB + Touch ID. No backlight, and I don’t mind. Compared with blush and indigo sitting behind it, citrus is the most outgoing MacBook Apple has shipped; indigo stays my calm favorite for bedtime use, but citrus is the one that screams Neo.

Watch the full MacBook Neo Citrus Green unboxing for the box tour, lemon-lime wallpaper, trackpad demo, and side-by-sides with blush and indigo. Final thoughts: if you want the fun Mac, don’t overthink it — citrus is the polarizing color that actually delivers, and at this price it’s hard to talk yourself out of.
