After a full week with both phones, iPhone 17 vs iPhone Air isn’t about who wins every spec sheet — it’s about which tradeoffs you’ll actually feel day to day. I compared titanium vs aluminum, the Air’s single camera vs the 17’s dual setup, display size vs thinness, gaming, battery, and that couple-hundred price gap.

iPhone 17 brings five aluminum finishes this year — White, Black, Mist Blue, Sage, and Lavender — and picking the right one is harder than it looks in Apple’s product photos. I compared all five colors side by side in real lighting so you can see how each finish actually reads in hand.

Apple Watch Series 11 brings four aluminum finishes this year — Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, and Jet Black — and picking the right one is harder than it looks in Apple’s product photos. I compared all four colors side by side in real lighting, with Sport Bands and third-party straps, so you can see how each finish actually reads on wrist.

iPhone Air brings four finishes this year — Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue — and picking the right thin-phone color is harder than it looks in Apple’s product photos. I compared all four Air colors side by side in real lighting so you can see how each finish actually reads on that slim chassis.

iPhone 17 Pro brings three finishes this year — Silver, Deep Blue, and Cosmic Orange — and the right pick is harder than flat product shots make it look. I compared all three colors side by side in real lighting so you can see how each Pro finish actually reads against the camera island.

Sky Blue on the iPhone Air might be barely blue — soft, pale, and way subtler than classic blue iPhones. In person it reads as a cool mist that still shows color under the right light, which is exactly why I wanted a full unboxing before deciding if it’s too subtle or just right.

Light Gold on the iPhone Air might be the perfect middle ground — warmer than Cloud White, quieter than a loud statement color, and way more interesting in hand than flat product shots suggest. In person it reads as a soft champagne finish that stays premium without going full yellow, which is exactly why I wanted a full unboxing before calling it.

Cloud White on the iPhone Air looks clean in product shots — and in person it’s even more stunning than I expected. The matte white back and bright metal rails feel brighter and more premium than flat online swatches suggest, which is why I wanted a full unboxing before locking in an opinion.

Space Black on the iPhone Air is as stealthy as the name promises — deep, matte, and way less flashy than the louder colors in this lineup. In person it reads like a quiet everyday finish that still looks premium next to the camera island, which is exactly why I wanted a full unboxing before calling it.

Deep Blue might be the best new iPhone color in this year’s Pro lineup — rich, modern, and way more interesting in hand than flat product shots suggest. In person it reads as a matte navy that stays premium without going neon or stealth-black.

Silver on the iPhone 17 Pro surprised me more than I expected. On paper it sounds like the safe, clean Pro finish. In person the matte white back and bright metal rails feel sharper and more premium than the product page suggests.

Purple is back on the standard iPhone 17, and Lavender feels softer and more wearable than the loud purples Apple has tried before. In person it’s a muted pastel that photographs differently depending on the light — which is why I wanted a full unboxing before locking in an opinion.

Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro is bold in a way Apple doesn’t usually ship — and in person it might be too much for some people. On camera it reads warmer and more metallic than the product page, which is exactly why I wanted a full unboxing before calling it.

The White iPhone 17 is the clean option — bright, simple, and still one of the easiest finishes to live with day to day.

Sage on the iPhone 17 surprised me more than I expected. On paper it sounds like a quiet green. In person it has a soft, earthy presence that photographs differently depending on the light.

Mist Blue might be the coolest iPhone 17 color this year — soft, modern, and way more interesting in hand than flat product shots suggest.
